“A Stonecutter?” Like that episode of the Simpsons?
No. Sorry, if you’re looking for a website lovingly dedicated to the Stonecutter’s secret society from the Simpsons, you’re in the wrong spot.
I decided to start the new year off by taking up a new hobby – carving stone. My ultimate aim is a handcrafted set of stone playing pieces for my favorite board game - Settlers of Catan, the Cities and Knights expansion. I’m starting off at square one with this project. I’m not particularly artistic. Inspiration doesn’t strike often and so I don’t spend my free time working on these sorts of projects. The most creative thing I’ve carved to date is a stick for roasting marshmallows. In short, this is going to be a lot of work to get this done the way it should be done.
This blog will feature the various steps I’m taking to advance my knowledge of stone crafting. It will be infrequently updtaed, as I’m a law student without much time to spare.
Hey, I’m doing sort of the same thing except with woodworking! And except that I don’t have an actual project to work towards. I suppose I should come up with one, otherwise I’ll never get anywhere.
